Peafowl in Iranian architecture

There are many mythological meaning for Peafowl (Tavoos) in Iranian history and culture such as Immortality, Dualism, Kingdome, Water, Women.

In antient Iran peafowl was the symbol of Morgh Nahid which is a mythological bird. Also in Zarathushtra era, peafowl was a blessed symbol that they had a special place for peafowl in their fire places.

It said that blessed peafowl drank the life existence water and became immortal and is been in paintings and designs for thousands of years..

It also said that peafowl was in the heaven and for some reasons hobut (fall of man) to the earth.

peafowl has special being. A normal bird when its wings are not open. But became like a king or owner of the place when its wings are open. Its so magnificent and proudly. Peafowl is used as the symbol of beauty and static too and also seductive women who can catch eyes of everyone. People keep this bird mostly for beauty not benefit. And it is also in Iranian antient symbols too that you can see on carpets or paintings.
